gateway settings update 0%

I used the hard reset on the side of the gateway (# 219DE)
and now when I enter some data about MTUs tz, etc, and click on the Update button
on write-to-device it seems nothing happens. Nothing.
The 0% just stays there.   Firefox 56.0 on Ubuntu 16.04
I'll try Chromium next.

On plugging in gateway (to ethernet and also to wall plug)
I see that the green led for hardwire ethernet connection comes on briefly
and the  orange/yellow one blinks there and then the green
at the led plug goes out!     Whether out at the garage or
in my office at the ethernet switch.

There is also a green/orange blink sequence from the side led
about the time the ethernet green goes out.

Sequence Ethergreen on, ether yellow blinks, ether green and yellow go out
and gateway side led blinks yellow/green repeatedly.
And a bit later it all repeats.

?  Should I be able to see the gateway and have it stay live
on the local net even
when it maybe cannot see any MTU and is not even configured?

I typed the gateway ID wrong earlier, left out a character.  2194DE  is right.

Hi dandelot,

It sounds like when you performed the hard reset the little switch may have gotten stuck on the inside of the case causing it to continuously reset. This would explain why you couldn't save the settings as well. This happens often with the TED5000 Gateway if you use a paperclip, toothpick, or anything smaller than a ballpoint pen tip to push in on the button so I would check the little reset switch on the side and make sure you can see the button and that it's just about flush with the outside of the case.

I see a tiny button and it is flush with the case... now.
Not sure that was always true about flush with case.
Might have been stuck in for a while.

Whether (using a ball point pen) I press the tiny button or not
and even waiting for 60 seconds with it pressed
makes no difference to the visible pattern of lights.

So maybe the reset is stuck internally to the gateway,
as you wondered about?  Maybe I broke it?

Should I just order a new gateway? Or
are there options to deal with this?

Just realized the TED5000 line is discontinued.
So...what to do?

The TED5000 has been discontinued for quite some time so you may want to consider upgrading to the TED Pro Home to take advantage of the new design and performance enhancements to the system. After sitting on my desk all night: on power up the same
light pattern as before.   I even took the gateway
cover off yesterday and tapped the little switch in case something
there was the issue.  No help.

I ordered TED Pro yesterday before I saw your reply.

Electrician arriving in a couple hours to install TED Pro MTUs.

It is likely PG&E destroyed the gateway. Problems started Sept 3-5.
Problems started at the end of a 23 hour power outage that, in its first hour (at least) had us
getting 70V (!).  I noticed some things 'on'
but not others so got out a voltmeter...
And who knows how much noise on the line.  It started with
a tree damaging the above-ground power lines.   You may have noticed PGE
is in trouble over not maintaining the trees around power lines in Napa/Sonoma,
and they don't do anything about trees around power lines around here.

I look forward to getting power-use information again some time today.

Any further issues will be posted on the Ted Pro forum.  The new ECC is
configured and ready to go: I used a static local-net IPv4 as I do for most devices.
